Photographing food : Taking versus the making
In the world of food photography, beauty lies in the smallest details, often overlooked. Despite being an unconventional genre, food photography, much like any art form, revolves around macro perspectives, focusing on intricate elements. Without compelling subjects that communicate and resonate, creating beautiful pictures becomes a challenging feat.
Over the years, my exposure to thousands of articles and numerous YouTube videos has led me to develop a nuanced understanding of photography. Currently, my focus is on unraveling the anatomy that constitutes a captivating photograph. Renowned photographers emphasize the distinction between starting with a blank canvas (as an artist does) and eliminating unwanted elements from a full canvas (as a photographer does). This insight underscores the beauty and power of simplicity, prompting me to simplify the photography process, moving beyond mere snapshots to actively engaging in the creation of a photograph.
